Illegal Stamps
Any stamp not authorized by an issuing country is illegal, including those purporting to be from territories of larger countries. For a complete explanation and set of definitions around illegal stamps see our Notes page. |
Countries that are the subject of illegal stamps will traditionally issue circulars through the Universal Postal Union. The entries below are linked to the applicable circular where appropriate. Circulars may refer to the problem in general from the applicable country or may refer to the specific illegal stamp issue. |
Kyrgyz Republic Illegal Stamps Illegal postage stamp issues produced in the name of the Kyrgyz Republic (formerly the Republic of Kyrgyzstan). |
Kyrgyzstan Illegal Simpsons Souvenir Sheet 1
Denomination: 20c x 6 Size: 11.2 cm (H) x 10.2 cm (W) Perforation: 14.0 Dated: 2000 UPU Circular: 432 on 13 December 1999 UPU Circular: 308 on 30 July 2001 UPU Circular: 208 on 3 June 2002 UPU Circular: 172 on 5 May 2003 Gummed Six stamps, two wide by three high, with Simpsons scenes on border. The Kyrgyz Republic has had repeated problems with illegal stamps (witness the two Simpsons sheets document on this page) and as a result the Universal Postal Union issued multiple circulars as indicated above documenting illegal issues. Documentation on official stamps can be found registered with the Universal Postal Union or with the Kyrgyz Republic postal authorities.
