Illegal Stamps
Any stamp not authorized by an issuing country is illegal, including those purporting to be from territories of larger countries. For a complete explanation and set of definitions around illegal stamps see our Notes page. |
Countries that are the subject of illegal stamps will traditionally issue circulars through the Universal Postal Union. The entries below are linked to the applicable circular where appropriate. Circulars may refer to the problem in general from the applicable country or may refer to the specific illegal stamp issue. |
Congo Illegal Stamps Illegal postage stamp issues produced in the name of The Democratic Republic of the Congo. Souvenir Sheet |
Congo Illegal Simpsons Souvenir Sheet
Denomination: 120 CF x 8 Size: 10.6 cm x 17.9 cm Perforation: 12.7 (?) Dated: 2004 Gummed Eight stamps, four wide by two high, with border "The Simpsons". Each stamp has "2004", "République Democratique du Congo" and "120 CF". The Universal Postal Union has only issued one circular for Congo, Circular 371 on 21 November 2005 about a different issue. Note however that official stamps from 2004 have République du Congo instead of République Democratique du Congo (which was used on authentic stamps from 1964 to 1971) and the currency noted, the Congolese franc [franc congolais] is always abbreviated with an "F" and not "CF" as appears on this illegal issue. Documentation on official stamps can be found registered with the Universal Postal Union. Like many of the illegal stamps, scenes taken from non-HD episodes may result in image issues so this series also chose to bypass those issues by simply stealing scenes from a Simpsons Calendar. Each image on the stamps below was taken from The Simpsons Spass Kalendar 2004, as evidenced by the Skinner writing in German on the blackboard. We supply additional details below. |
