Bart Simpson's Treehouse of Horror #1 (Sept 1995)
Scarifying First Issue!
Rotting James Robinson (Starman) tells of Springfieldians who become ferociously feline in a flesh-tearing little foray called "Bart People." Alarming Mike Allred (Madman) turns the screws on a screaming story of botany and gluttony gone awry called "Little Shop of Homers." And, Jaundiced Jeff Smith (Bone) stirs the brew with a whiteknuckled whale's tale entitled "Call Me Homer." Three scarifying stories to whet your nocturnal appetite! But be forewarned: These grim tales may cause you to laugh yourself to DEATH!

Fearsome Fifth Issue!
TERROR THY NAME IS SIMPSON! Join Sergio Aragones (MAD, Groo), Doug TenNapel (Earthworm Jim, Gear), Jill Thompson (The Scary Godmother), and Bill Morrison (Roswell: Little Green Man) as they wreak havoc on the unsuspecting citizenry of Springfield in Bongo Comics' fifth annual freak fest. Chortle with glee as Lisa reduces her high school to rubble while demonstrating her motto of better living through vegetarianism. Frolic amidst tombstones and skeletons in Mexico as the Simpsons live through The Day of the Dead. Gasp in astonishment as the whole family is teleported into the nether regions of space -- their only chance of survival resting in the hands of a quick-witted Kwik-E clerk and an articulate cat. It's a hefty hunk of horror and humor just in time for Halloween!

Bart Simpson's Treehouse of Horror #6
(Direct Edition) (Sept 2000)
IT'S TIME AGAIN FOR TREEHOUSE TERROR! Prepare yourself to be scared silly by the monstrous talents of the comic industry, both young and old. Jim Mahfood (Grrl Scouts, Zombie Boy, and Clerks) guides Ned Flanders through the pits of Hell, when Rod and Todd are possessed by demons, turning Springfield upside down. C. Scott Morse (Soulwind, Visitations, and Volcanic Revolver) paints the town red with a tale of a beast, a bar, and the redemptive power of beer. Peter Kuper (Eye of the Beholder, The System, and MAD's "Spy Vs. Spy") goes Kafka on Homer Simpson, when he metamophisizes him into a cockroach. And finally, Veteran Archie artist and pin-up pioneer Dan DeCarlo and Bongo's own Bill Morrison take "weird" science into their own hands, play God, and create a modern Prometheus in a story of adolescence, acne, and re-animation, we call "Young Frinkenstein." Scream with delight as Bongo dishes out a helpful heaping of Halloween horror!

Bart Simpson's Treehouse of Horror #6
(Non-Direct Edition) (Sept 2000)
Instead of Treehouse of Horror #6 in the upper left corner the comic sent through
the traditional distribution channels had Simpsons Comics Annual 2000. One may
theorize that this was geared to the casual buyer, for whom this description might
provide greater appeal 1) not knowing they were 'missing' five prior issues and
2) knowing they might only be getting 'hooked' on an annual purchase.

Bart Simpson's Treehouse of Horror #7
(Direct Edition) (Sept 2001)
Bongo's reign of terror continues to cause conniptions with this year's riotous recipe for halfbaked horror: Start with a pinch of "bloody good" black humor courtesy of Garth Ennis (Preacher, Hitman) and John McCrea (Hitman, Jenny Sparks, Monarchy), add a dash of Victorian suspense by Troy Nixey (Jenny Finn, Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham), sprinkle it with the wonderful wizardry of Stan Sakai (Usagi Yojimbo), and top it off with a "bizarro" tale by Gotham's greatest villain and the rebel alliance's greatest hero, Mark Hamill. And if that is not enough to satisfy you, how about a deliciously delirious backcover by Dan Brereton (The Nocturnals)?

Bart Simpson's Treehouse of Horror #8 (Sept 2002)
Parents Beware! Goriest Issue Ever!
Bart Simpson's annual tour de force of tricks and treats turns up a pleasingly putrid and asphyxiatingly amusing anthology of Halloween humor. Ty Templeton (Stig's Inferno, Batman: Gotham Adventures, and Justice League Adventures) tells a tale of the Simpsons from beyond the grave, as Grampa accidentally causes the death of his loved ones, and a surprising number of grieving and greedy heirs come to claim the Simpson home. In a tip of the hat to Stephen King and Big Daddy Roth, Scott Shaw! (Oddball Comics!) takes you behind the wheel of a clown car gone mad in "Krustine." Hilary Barta ("Splash Brannigan," Plastic Man) teaches you the ABCs of Halloween, and Gail Simone (Deadpool, Killer Princesses) teams with Jill Thompson (The Scary Godmother) to deliver a ghastly goody that will leave you deliciously delirious.

Bart Simpson's Treehouse of Horror #9 (Sept 2003)
Bongo Comics presents the tantalizingly tempting Treehouse of Horror. Join our ghastly guest group of comic creators as they contribute to this terrific tome of terror. Dan Brereton (The Nocturnals) joins forces with Ian Boothby (Powerpuff Girls) to paint a tale of a small resolute band of nine, all on a mission to rid Middle Earth of an unspeakable evil. Suddenly, the Simpsons show up and the fellowship is broken. Then, Paul Dini (Jingle Belle) and J. Bone (Allison Dare) spin a scary story of murder, torture, and revenge as Moe exacts a pound of flesh from Homer. Finally, Gary Spencer Millidge (Strangehaven) visits merry olde England for a rippingly uproarious and bloodily delirious take on the most famous serial killer of all time.
Macabre Matt Groening preternaturally presents:
Ring Around The Simpsons
The Cask of Amontilla-D'oh
From Hell and Back
Or: The Truer Story of Jack The Ripper
Margie's Baby
|
Another obvious parody on the back of Treehouse of Horror #9, Margie's Baby
in imitation of the poster for the movie Rosemary's Baby. Note the spiky hair of Bart the Devil
in the carriage.
