Simpsons Super Spectacular #1 (Oct 2005)
Witness the cream-filled fury of Pieman (actually Homer Simpson) when an evil doppelganger seeks to tarnish his indignant and indulgent identity. Then follow Bartman and Houseboy (Bart and Milhouse) into a parallel world when they find themselves in the bizarrely- altered world of Shelbyville. Add to the mix a trilogy of Radioactive Man tales (including a new origin story) inspired by the storytelling of Steve Ditko, and you've got one spectacular super Simpsons special.

"Super-Sized 1st Issue!" The comic cover within the back cover: Bart Simpson's Favorite Comic Book! You wanted it, you got it! But there's no guarantee this will be a Collector's Item! The Origin of Radioactive Man Roargo The Longest Nap and more The Original Stories.. Back Again For The First Time! |
Back cover also has "[After Ditko]", referencing Steve Ditko, comic book artist extraordinaire of Marvel Comics Spider-Man and Doctor Strange fame.
|
The note on the bottom right of Simpsons Super Spectacular #1 indicates (AFTER DITKO)
referring, of course, to Steve Ditko, best known as co-creator of Spider-Man and Doctor Strange.
We begin by extracting the cover within the back cover of Simpsons Super Spectacular #1 yielding the
cover above to the left, which pays homage to Ditko's earlier days with Charlton comics
where he co-created Captain Atom. Captain Atom first appeared in Space Adventures #33 in March 1960,
above, before appearing in it's own series. Note the upper left hand corner of both comics,
with a diagonal stripe with the name of the series and the publisher logos, and the top right
with the Comic Code Authority label. Our two heroes above look somewhat similar, "atom" in hand, but if we merely
reposition them as illustrated below the similarities become far more obvious!

Simpsons Super Spectacular #7 (Jul 2008)
Bartman has a new partner in crime-fighting, the Salesman, and if he's lucky, ol' Gil and his shoddy equipment might only get one of them killed. And the citizens of Zenith experience mind-bending metamorphoses when an old haunted house secretly transforms every person who enters. But the question is, when Radioactive Man rushes in to help, which Radioactive Man will emerge?

Simpsons Super Spectacular #9 (Jun 2009)
The first multiple-title crossover since 1994's
When Bongos Collide!
Witness the event series that will
change Radioactive Man, Bart Simpson, and the citizens of Springfield's lives
forever. It's a three-part tale told in three consecutive weeks that will
reinvent summer crossovers and comic storytelling, as we know it!
It's 'The Great, Extreme, Ultimate, and Totally Awesome Radioactive Man Event!'
In Part 1, the new publisher of Radioactive Man comics, Krusty the Clown, is
looking for a new marketing ploy to reinvigorate the character and bring in new
readers; however, rumors of changes to the iconic irradiated crusader set the
townsfolk abuzz. Is it time to form an angry mob or to form a line at the Android's
Dungeon?
The original Simpsons crossover When Bongos Collide began in
Itchy & Scratchy #3, was continued in
Simpsons Comics #5 and ended in
Bartman #3.
This crossover began with
Simpsons Comics #155, then continued in
Bart Simpson #48 and concluded with
Simpsons Super Spectacular #9 (this comic).
